Islam mein suwwar ka gosht haram (na-jaaiz) hai, Quran ke mukhtalif ayaat se iski khoraak ko najis (napaak) aur mana kiya gaya hai. Ye ayaat khaas taur par suar ke gosht ko najis aur makruh qarar deti hain.
Quran mein, Allah farmata hai: “Kah doon ke, ‘Maine jo bhi mujhe wahi par nazil hua hai, usmein maine kisi ko bhi jo khana chahe uske liye haram nahi paya, siwaye uske ke wo murda ho ya khoon bah gaya ho ya suar ka gosht ho, kyunki ye toh najis hai'” (Al-An’am: 145).
